What is the price per square meter of X-Bond?
For all pricing and quotes of X-Bond for your project, you will need to discuss this with a trained X-Bond installer. You can find an installer to contact by clicking here. Your installer will price each job individually, either off plans or in person as the price to install X-Bond varies depending on project location, total square meters, area of application, intricacy, height (for walls) etc.
Can I purchase X-Bond and install it myself?
No, we only sell X-Bond to trained installers. We don’t sell X-Bond to the public as it’s important it’s installed by someone who has worked with X-Bond before. You can find a trained installer here.
I would like to specify X-Bond, how do I know what to specify?
In your specification it’s important to mention the range, colour and sealer you have chosen. Click here to view our Specification Guidelines for the X-Bond finishes. Please note: X-Bond must be installed by a trained installer. You can find a list of contractors here.
At what stage of my project should X-Bond be applied?
This is a great question to discuss with your installer to lock in the best installation time. As a general rule, it’s best to have X-Bond installed towards the end of your project, as you don’t want other trades walking on your finished surface.
What substrates can X-Bond be applied over?
X-Bond is applied Insitu over a range of substrates including:
Floors: Concrete, tiles, 12-18mm compressed sheeting
Walls: Plaster, Villa board, Blue board, FC Sheeting, Concrete, Brick, Foam, Ply & MDF
Joinery: MDF, Compressed Sheeting, Laminate & Marine Ply

Where can X-Bond be applied?
X-Bond can be applied to floors, walls and joinery both internally and externally.
Can X-Bond be applied around Joinery that’s already installed?
Yes, as X-Bond is hand trowelled it can be installed around joinery items. Discuss this with your installer prior to installation as they can advise if any extra precautions need to be taken.
What colours does X-Bond come in?
X-Bond is available in 10 standard colours. Click below to view the different colours for each finish:
What sealers are used for X-Bond?
Satin Stone is a surface mounting sealer used for sealing floors, walls and joinery internally and externally.
Natural Shield is a penetrating sealer used to create a raw concrete look and feel for internal walls and external floors, walls and joinery.
In a wet area (shower) do I need a waterproofing membrane installed prior to X-Bond installation?
Yes, when we’re applying X-Bond to any wet areas, tanking (waterproof membrane) is required. Your installer must receive a certificate of waterproof compliancy prior to installing X-Bond.
Will X-Bond change colour in a shower when it’s wet?
Yes, when X-Bond is installed in a shower and it has been wet by the water the colour of the X-Bond will darken until the X-Bond dries out. As X-Bond is a cement-based product it reacts the same to water as concrete does.
Can X-Bond be applied to ceilings?
Yes, X-Bond can be applied onto ceilings.
Can X-Bond be applied to a splashback?
We don’t recommend X-Bond to be installed on a splashback behind a stove / cooktop as the hot oils could migrate and leach into the sealer causing a stain.
The project I'm working on requires a very high slip resistance. What X-Bond finish should I use?
X-Bond Mineral finish is a highly textured and slip resistant finish which is typically used for external uses and ramping / walkways.
Is X-Bond always applied seamlessly?
X-Bond is designed to follow the existing substrate. We don't have to put breaks in if structurally it doesn't require it. When X-Bond is applied over concrete or sheeting, if there is an existing break or control joint in the existing floor we must repeat that by doing a saw cut.
Are saw cuts required on my X-Bond floor?
Saw cuts are required in areas where there are existing control/expansion joints or floor junctions. If installing over compressed sheeting we need to follow all breaks in the sub-floor to avoid any possible movement that may cause our X-Bond to crack.
Will I be able to see trowel marks?
Yes, X-Bond is a hand trowelled finish which means that trowel marks, colour and tonal variation are a natural characteristic of the finish.
Does X-Bond delaminate and crack?
X-Bond is a durable finish that doesn’t delaminate. However, as it is an overlay system X-Bond is as good as the existing substrate and we cannot guarantee that the existing substrate will not move causing our product to crack. This is existing substrate failure. Your installer should take preventative measures when preparing for the X-Bond installation to decrease the risk of substrate cracking, however substate movement or failure is beyond our control.
How long does it take for X-Bond to be installed?
This is a great question to discuss with your installer as it depends on the size of the project, any extra prep work and the finish chosen. An example based on 100 square meters is approximately 5 days.
What is the warranty on X-Bond Installations?
Each X-Bond installer may have different warranties for their installation works. Please discuss this with your installer.
