What’s Included in Our Microcement Training Course?

Adding microcement to your service offering can open the door to premium residential and commercial projects. But like any handcrafted decorative finish, achieving consistently high-quality results requires the right skills.

At Seamless Overlays, we've spent more than 25 years developing and refining the X-Bond Microcement system. Our in-person course has been designed to give experienced tradespeople the practical skills, technical knowledge, and ongoing support needed to install our microcement system with confidence. Here's exactly what you can expect.

One Practical, Hands-On Training Day

Sessions run for one day, from 9:00am to 3:30pm at our Thornbury warehouse. In-person attendance is required, allowing us to focus on practical application — you’ll work directly with the products, tools, and techniques used on real projects. Morning tea and lunch are provided.

Learn All Four X-Bond Finishes

In the X-Bond range, there are four finishes installed using different application techniques. You'll be trained across the complete X-Bond range:

  • Hybrid — our classic, smooth finish suitable for floors, walls, bathrooms, and joinery.

  • Blade — a textured, higher-slip finish ideal for exterior flooring applications.

  • Mineral — a heavily textured decorative wall finish.

  • Natural Concrete — a wall finish designed to replicate raw concrete aesthetics.

Surface Preparation

During the course you'll learn how to prepare different substrates correctly before application.

This includes preparation methods for surfaces such as:

  • Concrete

  • Tiles

  • Cement sheet and other common building materials

You'll also learn how our Liquid Membrane integrates into the system to provide waterproofing and anti-fracture protection where required.

Installation Techniques

You'll learn the complete X-Bond installation process from start to finish, receiving live demonstrations before going through the process yourself.

This includes:

  • Material mixing

  • Trowel techniques

  • Layer sequencing

  • Texture creation

  • Sealing procedures

  • Curing and drying processes

  • Achieving consistent decorative finishes

Because the course is hands-on, you'll have the opportunity to ask questions and receive guidance throughout each stage of the installation process.

Wholesale Trade Access

Once certified, you'll receive access to our wholesale ordering platform. This allows you to purchase X-Bond materials at trade pricing.

Ongoing Technical Support

Training doesn't stop when the day finishes. As one of our trained applicators, you'll have ongoing access to our technical team whenever questions arise on future projects.

Whether you're tackling a challenging substrate, need advice on specifications, or want a custom colour mix, our team is available to help.

Opportunity for Project Referrals

As you build experience with the X-Bond system, installers who consistently demonstrate strong workmanship may be considered for project lead referrals.

We regularly receive enquiries from homeowners, builders, designers, and architects looking for qualified installers throughout Australia, and where appropriate, we'll connect them with members of our trained installer network.
